Joint forces apprehend female UG cadre in Imphal West

The apprehended insurgent was handed over to Singjamei police for further legal proceedings and investigation, IGAR stated in a release.

The Mantripukhri battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South), in a joint operation with the Manipur police, apprehended a female insurgent of a proscribed outfit group from Mongshangei, Imphal West district on Sunday.

Based on specific intelligence input provided by AR, Manipur Police launched an operation which led to the apprehension, IGAR stated in a release.

The apprehended insurgent was handed over to Singjamei police for further legal proceedings and investigation, it added.

In another case the Keithelmanbi Battalion of AR in a joint operation with the Manipur police foiled narcotics smuggling in Kakching district on Saturday last, the release mentioned.

It further stated that during the search operation, the joint team had recovered 236 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 95 lakh which was concealed in 20 soap cases from a drug peddler in Pallel, Kakching district.

The recovered items and the drug peddler were handed over to Kakching police station for further action, the release added.
