Jeevan Rakshak Padak awardee felicitated

Abujam Roben Singh was awarded the medal for displaying bravery and selflessness while saving the lives of two civil workers who were electrocuted on contacting a live electric wire in Imphal, Manipur on March 24, 2020.

Major general, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), Alok Naresh felicitated rifleman Abujam Roben Singh of Assam Rifles for being conferred ‘Jeevan Rakshak Padak’ by the President of India during the occasion of 72nd Republic day celebration.

The programme was held at the premises of IGAR (South), Mantripukhri, Imphal on Tuesday. Roben is from Heirok Kaboleikai, Thoubal district and he is the only person from Manipur who has been awarded Jeevan Rakshak Padak for this year.  

Jeevan Raksha Padak awards are given to persons for their meritorious act of human nature in saving the lives of citizens. The award carries a medal, a certificate signed by the union home minister and a monetary grant.

Rifleman AR Singh was awarded the medal for displaying bravery and selflessness, wherein on March 24, 2020, he saved lives of two civil workers who were electrocuted on contacting a live electric wire near NRL Oil Pump of Singjamei Mayeng Leikai in Imphal, Manipur. He, while displaying exemplary sense of responsibility and bravery, first extricated the civilians and then evacuated both the unconscious men to the hospital.
