The Janata Dal- United (JD-U) on Saturday unanimously resolved to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the formation of the new state government in Manipur, in the "interest of the people" of the state.
The JD-U appealed to the BJP to honour the mandate reposed on the party and fulfil the hopes and aspiration of the people of Manipur, said a press communique issued by national office secretary of JD-U Mohammad Nisar.
It also informed that the party has elected its winning candidate of Thangmeiband AC Khumukcham Joykisan Singh as the leader of Legislature Party of JD-U in Manipur.
The party also appointed its winning candidate Ngursanglur Sanate, as its deputy leader of Legislature Party and Mohd Abdul Nasir as the Chief Whip of the party, it added.
Of the total 38 candidates of JD-U fielded to contest the 12th Assembly Election of Manipur, six won.
