JD-U Sekmai candidate Kh Devendro files nomination

Nomination papers will be received till February 8 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up on February 9.

Janata Dal-United candidate Khwairakpam Devendro Singh of Awang Sekmai Makha Leikai filed his nomination from 16-Sekmai (SC) Assembly Constituency on Wednesday, the second day of filing nomination in respect of the first-phase polling.

The filing of nomination was held at the office of the Returning Officer, Sekmai AC, Salam Padmapati.

Devendro’s nomination was supported by 10 proposers. Filing of nominations for the first-phase of the upcoming Assembly elections to Manipur Legislative Assembly, which is scheduled to be held on February 27 began on February 1.

Notifications of elections for the First Phase in respect of 38 Assembly Constituencies of five districts – Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi were issued by the concerned Returning Officers on Tuesday.

Nomination papers will be received till February 8 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up on February 9; while the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be February 11.
