Janazah nawaz held for Lilong Chingjao victims

The Janazah Nawaz (funeral prayer) was held at Lilong Chingjao ground at around 10 am when the bodies were brought from JNIMS mortuary.

The funeral of the five victims of the January 1 incident at Lilong Chingjao was performed with the attendance of thousands of people on Thursday.

The Janazah Nawaz (funeral prayer) was held at Lilong Chingjao ground at around 10 am when the bodies were brought from JNIMS mortuary after the Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Mass Killing and Brutal Act at Lilong Chingjao came to an agreement with the Manipur government on Wednesday.

The bodies of Md Sirajuddin Makak, Md Azad Khan, Md Hussain Makakmayum, Md Dawood Khan Pundreimayum and Moulana Abdur Rajaque Meraimayum were later taken back to their respective localities for their burial.

Speaking to the media after the funeral prayer, JAC Co Convenor Islam Makakcha said that the Meiteis and the Meitei Pangals cannot be separated even if their religious practices differ.

He appealed to the people to stop posting hateful comments on social media regarding the incident.
