Meira Paibis of Khongjom on Sunday protested by forming a human chain, condemning the alleged killing of two students by Kuki Militants.

Khongjom Circle Meira Paibi Forum secretary Mutum Ongbi Nirmala questioned the state and central government if Manipur is not a part of India, while staging protests in Thoubal district.

Meira Paibis of Khongjom protested by forming a human chain, condemning the alleged killing of two students by Kuki Militants. The protest organised by Khongjom Circle Meira Paibi Forum formed the human chain along National Highway-102 Imphal Moreh road from Samamram Lamkhai till Patpal Lamkhai.

Secretary Nirmala expressed the need for a free and independent Manipur from India as the government failed to bring a solution to the ongoing violence which has been five months. She demanded for a Pre-merger political status without affecting the territorial integrity of the state, before 1949. The kukis should stop dreaming for a separate administration in Manipur, she added.

She demanded capital punishment for the Kuki militants who were involved in the alleged killing of two innocent students. She also condemns the harsh actions of the security forces on the students while protesting for justice for the two students and firing of rubber bullets, physical assault on the students should be stopped immediately.
