The ‘International Day of Older Persons 2022’ was observed in the state with a programme organised by District Health Society Thoubal at Thoubal District Hospital on Monday.
The District Health Society Thoubal organised the International Day of Older Persons 2022 with the theme of ‘Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World’ at the Thoubal District Hospital and the various health centres in the district.
The event at Thoubal District Hospital was attended by District Health Society Thoubal chairman and Thoubal DC A Subash as the chief guest, medical superintendent of the hospital Ch Memcha as the president along with state nodal officer of National Program for Health Care for Elderly (NPHCE) of State Health Society Manipur under National Health Mission L Tilakeswari and State Health Society Manipur NPSDCS state nodal officer Y Premchandra as the guests of honour.
On the occasion, chief guest A Subash spoke on the importance of the youth taking care of the elderly persons in their families with regular check-ups. He appealed to the beneficiaries of the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) to reap the benefits of the scheme.
The speakers of the event highlighted the various programmes and facilities for the well-being of elderly persons including Telemedicine services and Palliative Care etc.
As part of the programme, few selected elderly persons were presented with blankets. Health check-ups such as weight, BP, Sugar level and ECG were also conducted for the elderly persons.
