International Day of Older Persons held in Churachandpur

Free medical checkup provided to older persons by specialist doctors.

The International Day of Older Persons 2022 was observed on Saturday in Churachandpur under the theme 'Resilient of Older Person in a Changing World ' where free medical checkup was provided to older persons by specialist doctors.

The observation was held at OPD ground floor of district hospital, which was grace as chief guest by MLA of Churachandpur AC, LM Khaute, as functional president by CMO Dr Kimngaihching Simte, as guest of honour by state nodal officer (NPPC & NPHCE) Dr L Tilakeshwari Devi and medical superintendent Dr T Vanlalkungi.     

Prior to the medical checkup, a basic physiotherapy exercise was demonstrated by Kangbrailatpam Swarnamayee, a physiotherapist from NPHCE, Churachandpur. specialists in eye, ENT, medicine, orthopaedic, psychiatric, dentist attended to the elderly at assessment and special health camp who are over 60 years.

MLA Khaute spoke on the importance of exercise by the elderly people as no one can possibly guide and help them 24 hrs a day so as to gain mental and physical health. The government is giving importance to the elder people and there are many schemes for Widows, Old age, the MLA informed and asked those who don't have such to approach him while promising help. He also asked the participant to avail CMHT and PMJAY card to help them in their medical expenses.
