An Interfaith Forum for Peace and Harmony (IFPH) in Manipur was launched at the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple, 1st MR, Hayingkhongbal, Imphal on Tuesday.
The forum was launched with an objective of giving relief, healing and restoration of humanity to all people affected by the violent conflicts in Manipur, stated a release.
Altogether, 34 persons, including religious leaders representing diverse faiths in Manipur: Christian, Catholic, Sanamahi, Manipuri Gauriya Vaisnav, Islam, Tingkao Ragwang, and various spiritual communities; Divine Life Society, Art of Living, Brahmakumari, Bhakti Seva Lup and Gandhian movement Ekta Parishad attended the meeting, it stated.

Members of the forum resolved to imbibe on a journey of interfaith understanding and culture of peace by taking moral and social responsibilities of the sufferings caused to thousands of people in both the hills and valley of Manipur, it mentioned.
At the outset of the meeting, vice-president Bidyapati Sanjenbam and LSTB member K Ibomcha shared eight core values of Sanamahism, including humility, trust, calmness, honesty, compassion, good thought, reflection and contentment, it stated.
These core values of Sanamahism were appreciated as common values for interfaith understanding by all religious leaders from all other faith communities present in the meeting, it mentioned.
The meeting further resolved to organise all faith prayers together to end the violence and heal the sufferings through humanitarian support services throughout the state, it stated.
A working committee of the forum was constituted comprising two representatives from each faith, while Deben Bachaspatimayum was appointed as Convener of the forum, it added.
