The session was organised by the Medical Media Group (MMG) under the sponsorship of Share and Care, Wangkhei, Imphal.

Addressing the function, MMG founder Dr RK Lenin Singh, who is also head of department of Psychiatry, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), said that the wellbeing of a person is not only defined by physical fitness but also by mental health. But unfortunately, mental health issue has become one of the major problems in the state, he said.

He further said that the apart from genetic factor, increasing social issues like drugs menace, changing scenario of society, etc., are also some of the undeniable factors. Observing the present trend of mental health issue, the role of media has become so important to control it, he said.

Creating massive awareness about mental health would really help to address the issue as many people are still hesitated to get proper treatment in fear of social stigma and other reasons, he added while stating about essence of media to understand the present scenario of mental health issue to scale up the awareness level.
