The Manipur veterinary department on Thursday sent samples collected from infected pigs from four different districts for diagnosis on Wednesday.
Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry director Ng Ibotombi Singh said the officials collected the samples of the infected pigs and sent to the Animal Health Centre, North Eastern Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (NERDDL), Khanapara, Guwahati on late Wednesday evening.
He said the samples were collected from Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching and Ukhrul.

He further said that it would be too early to guess or identify the disease widely infecting the pigs widely till the report of the samples is received.
He further appealed to the pig farmers to consult district veterinary offices for preventive measures to stop the spread of the disease.
Manipur Progressive Pig Farmers’ Association reported earlier that around 90 per cent of the pigs have died due to an unknown disease in five different valley districts of Manipur.
