Dalit Sahitya Academy Thailand presented the ‘Indo-Thailand Friendship Award, 2022’ to psychiatrist Dr Khangembam Robindro Singh at an event held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal on Wednesday.
The Indo-Thailand Friendship Award, 2022 was awarded to psychiatrist Dr Khangembam Robindro in recognition of his six years long initiative of spreading awareness, treating and rehabilitating the mental health patients and drug addicts in remote rural areas.
Khangembam Robindro had also written many newspaper articles and participated in many talk shows to spread awareness on the importance of mental health.
In the award ceremony titled ‘Athoubasingee Ningshing Thouram’ held at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal, Wangkhei assembly constituency MLA Thangjam Arunkumar Singh and Dhanamanjuri University vice chancellor Nongmaithem Rajmohon Singh presented the award to Khangembam Robindro Singh. The award included a memento and a citation.
Robindro is the second child of late Khangembam Tomba Singh and Khangembam (O) Thoibi Devi from Thoubal Athokpam Makha Leikai. He completed his MBBS in 1994 and completed post graduate in Psychiatry and secured doctor of medicine in psychiatry (MD Psychiatry) in 2015 from Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS), Imphal. He was the medical officer at the Health department, government of Manipur in 2011.
Currently, Khangembam Robindro Singh is a consultant psychiatrist at District Hospital, Chandel as well as the chief executive officer cum member secretary at Manipur State Mental Health Authority.
It can be mentioned that Khangembam Robindro Singh was also awarded with ‘Rashtriya Gaurav Award 2021 for Meritorious Service, Outstanding Performance and Remarkable Role’ by India International Friendship Society (IIFS), New Delhi in 2021.
