The Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) on Sunday withdrew the indefinite blockade which was scheduled to be imposed from June 6 onwards along the Imphal to Moreh road, in protest against the frequent replacement of the deputy commissioner (DC) of Tengnoupal district.
The blockade was withdrawn after the chief minister agreed to withdraw the transfer order of the DC, KSO president Thangboi Lhungdim stated in a release. With the help of the MLA of Tengnoupal assembly constituency minister Letpao Haokip, members of KCA, Tengnoupal District, KSO Tengnoupal District and KWHR met with chief minister N Biren to discuss the issue. Acknowledging the queries, the chief minister agreed to withdraw the transfer order, he mentioned. With the resolution of the issue, the indefinite blockade of Imphal to Moreh road which was to be imposed from June 6 onwards had been withdrawn, he added.
The frequent replacement of the DC of Tengnoupal district hinders the development of the district, he stated. The government had paid deaf ears to the queries of the people of the district, protesting the ‘unreasonable’ transfer order of the DC, he added.
