Imphal: Huge consignment of narcotic items seized from Mantripukhri

The owner of the house where narcotic items were seized is a member of an international drug cartel, the police said.

A combined team of NAB Police Station and Heingang Police Station seized a huge amount of narcotic items along with 77 gunny bags containing poppy seeds from Mantripukhri area in Imphal on Monday, police said.

The accused person and the house owner is a member of an international drug cartel, the police said.

Police report stated that acting on an information that some illegal items were concealed at Mantripukhri area, Imphal East district, the combined team rushed to the spot at around 1.30 pm along with executive magistrate and independent witnesses.

During the police action, one suspected house was identified and conducted raid. During the raid, 77 gunny bags containing poppy seeds, a packet containing 520 grams of synthetic caffeine and one transparent plastic packet containing 175 gram of Pseudoephidrine on Monday.

On checking further, one RC book in the name of one ‘Paojangam Khongsai’ son of one Songkholet Khongsai of Mantripukhri AT Line, one 100 kyat note and one 20 kyat note were also recovered from the house.

It is highly suspected that the accused person and house owner is a member of an international drug cartel. A case is registered at NAB PS for further investigation.
