The Manipur government has arranged Affidavit Execution Centres for Imphal East district in an effort to enable the public to give statement/complaint, allegation in the form of affidavit in connection with the prevailing violence.
In a notice issued on Friday, the office of the District Magistrate/DC, Imphal East district, Government of Manipur listed the details of the 12 Affidavit Execution Centres.
The list includes Office of the DC, IE at Porompat, Office of the SDO, Sawombung at Sawombung; office of the SDC, Sagolmang at Sagolmang; temporary shelter homes at Sajiwa jail complex, Imphal East and BDP Sawombung complex, Sawombung; office of the SDO, Porompat at DIC complex, Porompat; Ideal girls college, Akampat relief camp at Akampat; Heingang Kangjeibung makha community hall at Heingang makha leikai; office of the SDO Porompat at DIC office complex, Porompat; office of the SDO, Keirao Bitra at DC office complex, Porompat; OBC girls hostel, Urup at Urup and Yambem high school boarding at Yambam bazar, it stated.
The activity was taken following the notice dated November 20 issued by the secretary, Commission of Inquiry (Manipur Violence), 2023 wherein all persons acquainted with the terms of reference and subject matter of the commission are invited to furnish to the commission, a statement of affidavit relating to all such matters or a complaint or allegation on affidavit in connection with the causes and spread of the violence and riots targeting members of different communities which took place on May 3 and thereafter, it stated.
The said affidavit execution centres will remain open between 10 am to 2 pm on all working days, it mentioned. It added that the statement, complaint or allegation by way of the affidavit is to be furnished to the commission within 45 days of the issuance of the notification and that the district nodal officer may be contacted in case of any queries.
