Imphal East: 144 clamped in Telipati area

The order for 144 CrPC in Telipati area of Imphal east district was issued following a clash that erupted between two communities in the area on December 5.

The additional district magistrate, Imphal East district, Manipur, Shamin Ahmad Shah, imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC 1973 for a month with effect from 10 pm of December 5 in Telipati area.

The order was issued in the wake of the clash that erupted between two communities in the area on December 5, citing serious breach of peace and grave danger to human lives and properties.

The order prohibits the assembly of five or more people, carrying of deadly weapons like firearms, sticks and stones in public places.

However, government agencies involved in the enforcement of law and order will be exempted from the purview of the prohibition, it stated.
