Following a report by the Imphal Free Press on the frequent power cuts in the said sub-station, the power company concerned took note of the genuine issue facing the area and restored the power back to the villagers.

Among all the sub-stations in Ukhrul district, Namrei station is the worst performing station, Apam S, a villager, alleged. Every village under their respective power substations deserves to enjoy regular power supply, he added.

“What took the power company so long to fix the problem? No one knows whether it is a shortage of manpower or negligence on their part. Whatever may be the problem, adequate power must be ensured for this area,” he reasoned.

Power is finally restored and the villages strongly believe that effective this month uninterrupted power supply will be ensured for this area, he prayed.

It is worth mentioning that consumers of Namrei power station had been cut off from power supply since Tuesday.

Imphal Free Press contacted the MSPDCL Ukhrul to enquire about the matter but they could not be reached.

Responding to a query, MLA Khashim Vashum, PA, who is also the minister of Transport, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, said that the department concerned has been informed and instructed to ensure that all the sub-stations in Ukhrul district are functioning.

On being asked why only certain villages have been restored, he said that he had apprised the department concerned to ensure that power is restored to each and every village under Namrei power sub-station.

Power supply was restored to villages like Kharasom and Tusom on Saturday but many of the villages received their power back only on Sunday evening.
