Hundreds of Unity Runs mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2022 celebration across Manipur

The district administrations across Manipur paid great tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, ‘The Iron Man of India', on his 147th birth anniversary.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2022 (National Unity Day) was observed across Manipur to mark the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel – ‘The Iron Man of India’ with floral tributes and unity runs on Monday.

In Bishnupur, Deputy Commissioner Lourembam Bikram led the gathering at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat complex and administered Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to the participants comprising of DLOs and Staff of district administration.

Speaking on the occasion, Lourembam Bikram stated that the significance of the observation is to strengthen the nation’s unity and to promulgate the remarkable contributions of Sardar Patel in uniting India.

Stating that the spirit of nationalism is applicable not just for war times only but also relevant in day to day life, he emphasized that being ‘Indian first’ must dominate over our petty ethnic prejudices in order to foster a strong State or Nation.

As part of the observance, the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Bishnupur in collaboration with CEO, Zilla Parishad and BDO/Eos of Municipal Councils organized 40 Unity Runs in different villages of the district.

The ZEO also organized 60 Unity Runs in schools. Principals of different colleges also organized Unity Run to mark the observance.

In Churachandpur, the district administration observed Rastriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) at Mini-Secretariat Campus. As part of the programme, Sharath Chandra Arroju, Deputy Commissioner, DLOs, students and other participants paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Several unity runs from different colleges and schools of Churachandpur, taking of pledge to dedicate oneself to preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation and strive hard to spread this message among one’s fellow countrymen and formation of the human chain to show and to maintain the spirit of ‘Unity in Diversity among the people marked the observation.

In Kangpokpi: Deputy Commissioner Kengoo Zuringla, officers and staffs paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhai Patel at a simple function organised by the District Administration Kangpokpi. The celebration of the 147th birth anniversary of Iron Man of India was also held at government offices and schools located within the district. The Transport Department organised ‘Run for Unity’. The National Unity Day provides an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation towards upholding the unity, integrity and security of our country.

In Pherzawl,  a Unity Run was organised in schools under ZEO Pherzawl. ZEO Pherzawl district Hemchand Yumnam said Pherzawl District joined the rest of the state in observing the event. He added altogether 16 Schools in different parts of the district with a total of 850 participated in the Unity Run.

In Tengnoupal, the district administration of Tengnoupal observed Rastriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) at district headquarter, Machi and Moreh sub division today. Ranjan Yumnam led in paying homage and garlanding to photograph of Sardar Vallabhai Patel. The gathering which includes DLOs, staff, students and public form human chain and read out Unity pledge at DC Office complex.

As a part of the observance, Ranjan Yumnam, DC flagged off the Unity Run from the district headquarter and the run was also organised in Machi and Moreh sub- divisions. The Unity Run was participated by officers and staff of the district administration, police department, students of educational institutions including colleges and the public in the district.

In Ukhrul, the Ukhrul District Administration organised a 'Unity Run' from the DC Office complex to Ukhrul Higher Secondary School and back to the same as part of the 75000 Unity Run across the India, therafter floral tributes were paid to Sardar Valabh Bhai Patel.

DC of Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar, participated in the run after which a pledge was read by all the participants of the run. The pledge was read to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message which was invisioned by Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.

Krishna Kumar said the event was organised to remember the birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel who had played a pivotal role in the political integration of India. The legacy of our forefathers has to be continued.

He further informed the nation building process is still going on where each and every citizen has a part to take. Mentioning few areas like social, legal, health and connectivity infrastructures, the responsibility to preserve in the process for the benifit of the future is very important.

Today's event was held in collaboration with the ZEO and DYASO. School children from Ukhrul Higher Secondary School and Model High School participated in the run. In addition, all the DLOs and their staff took part in the event.
