Personnel of Moreh Battalion 43 Assam Rifles have seized a huge quantity of explosives in the interior parts of Tengnoupal district along the India-Myanmar border on Monday, sources said.
Troops of 43 Assam rifles seized a large number of prefabricated IEDs weighing more than 250 kg in Tengnoupal district along the India-Myanmar border, the sources said.
As per the report, the AR team seized 243 pieces of prefabricated IEDs and materials used to make IED from a jungle near Betuk village. Betuk village is located near India-Myanmar boundary pillar No 75. It stated that the AR team spotted a group of persons riding Myanmar Kenbo bikes near the border around 8pm. When the AR signalled them to stop for checking, the persons fled away by taking advantage of the darkness and left behind some boxes.
On checking the boxes, the AR team found 243 pieces of prefabricated IEDs and materials used to make IEDs. The seized materials consist of 197 IEDs weighing 500 grams per piece, 33 IEDs weighing 3kgs each, 4 IEDs weighing 4kgs per piece and 9 IEDs weighing 5 kgs per piece.
Later, the AR team handed over the seized items to the Moreh Police station for further legal procedure.
