Residents of Moreh, Hill Tribal Council (HTC) and surrounding villages expressed heartfelt gratitude to TA and Hill minister Letpao Haokip for blacktopping the roads in and around Moreh town.
The roads in Moreh area, which is one of the most important links for the livelihood of Manipur in Tengnoupal district, were left unattended for the past more than 10 years, stated a release.
Various CSOs, chiefs had made several appeals to the government for blacktopping the roads but no action was taken, it stated. The roads remained in deplorable conditions until Letpao Haokip became the new MLA of Tengnoupal assembly constituency, it mentioned.
Even before he declared his candidacy, Letpao Haokip had taken up repairing and blacktopping the roads including the inter-village bridge, it mentioned.
Moreh Hospital road, National Highway to Canan Veng, Turel Wangma, Lhangnom veng to Wanomjang and Chikim village to India - Myanmar Gate No.1 have been blacktopped now, it stated.
Now that the road is blacktopped, the connectivity will not only benefit the Moreh residents but most importantly to the thousands of the people in the state, HTC president Limthang Touthang told the media.
He lauded minister Letpao Haokip for all his effort for development work in Tengnoupal assembly constituency and wished him the best in his future endeavors. “Best wishes to dynamic minister Letpao Haokip who works assiduously to develop Moreh town. Praying for his long and healthy life,” he said.
HTC also expressed thankfulness to Infra Projects Ltd and urged all the roadside residents to extend cooperation to Infra Project Ltd while blacktopping works are executed.
