House applauds Commonwealth Games medallists Mirabai Chanu, Bindyarani Sorokhaibam

In the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Tokyo gold medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won a gold medal in 49 kg women’s weightlifting category while Bindyarani Sorokhaibam won a silver medal in women’s 55 kg weight category.

The House led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday applauded two weightlifters of Manipur Mirabai Chanu and Bindyarani Sorokhaibam on their winning gold and silver medals in Birmingham, 2022 Commonwealth Games by representing India.

After the zero hour of the ongoing second session of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, Biren said that the winning of two medals in Commonwealth Games from the state is a pride of Manipur. He cheered them through the assembly floor to achieve more in the future and wished all the participants and medal winners.

In the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Tokyo gold medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu again won a gold medal in 49 kg women’s weightlifting category while Bindyarani Sorokhaibam won a silver medal in women’s 55 kg weight category. Bindyarani also kept a record in clean and jerk in her weight category by lifting 116 kg.
