A toll-free helpline number for women in distress was launched on Tuesday by the Thoubal District Mahila Congress Committee as part of the birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
The Thoubal District Mahila Congress Committee launched a toll free helpline for women in distress, 18002030589 at the Congress office in Thoubal.
On the occasion, District Mahila Congress president L Ngambi Devi said that the helpline number was launched as part of the celebration of the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi on August 20. The helpline number was launched in remembrance of former PM Rajiv Gandhi’s initiatives for the security and empowerment of women, she added.
She informed that the toll free helpline number can be contacted by any women in distress to seek assistance.
