The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (NE Section) has appointed Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma as new director Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma is currently serving as director professor (Forensic Medicine & Toxicology), Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. His appointment as director, RIMS Imphal has been approved by the Appointment Committee of Cabinet vide DoPT order dated May 1, 2023.
The order issued by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Monday (May 1, 2023) stated that Dr Sharma has been appointed as director, RIMS Imphal on deputation on foreign service (including short-term contract) basis for a period of five years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or up to the age of superannuation in his parent cadre, or until further orders.
The “appointment of Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma to the post of Director, RIMS, Imphal on deputation on foreign service (including short-term contract) basis will be regulated by the instructions issued by the Government of lndia from time to time,” the order stated.
Meanwhile, as thousands of medical aspirants look forward to the RIMS healthcare staff recruitment process under the Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Yojana 2023 with the plan to fill up as many as 435 posts lying vacant, official sources had said that the selection of staff will be done on merit basis and in a transparent manner.
“Following the directive given by the ministry, the institute has now started the recruitment process… Selection of the staff will be done on merit basis and in a transparent manner," present RIMS director Dr M Priyosakhi told media persons in Imphal on March 25.
