The first ever ‘Gonmei’ clan Conference 2022, All ‘Gonmei Kaikhuang’ (AGK) Assam, Manipur and Nagaland was held at Longmai Part-1 Noney district headquarters under the theme of ‘Growing Together’ on Wednesday.
Making of sacred fire, traditional slogan and cultural dance were the main highlights of the opening day. As a part of the programme, a solidarity speech from different dignitaries, during which the history of All Gonmei Kaikhuang (AGK) Assam, Manipur and Nagaland was elaborated.
During the inaugural programme, All Gonmei Kaikhuang president Meishongam Gonmei hoisted the Gonmei flag and the performance of Gonmei theme song was led by AD Gonmei.
Retired IAS LP Gonmei unveiled the monolith (Gonmei Tausuam) and released a souvenir.
A traditional slogan was performed by Soubunglong village and a solemn pledge of Gonmei Kaikhuang was led by Chunthailung Gonmei under unity and prosperity, forgiveness and wisdom, population growth and blessing.
As a part of the conference, ‘Gonmei Kaikhuang’ Assembly session was held and various agendas were discussed. The first conference also resolved to organise the next conference of All Gonmei Kaikhuang (AGK) Assam, Manipur and Nagaland after five years.
It was resolved that the research of Gonmei clan history will be taken up soon under the initiatives of All Gonmei Kaikhuang and Gonmei Chabuan Phuam (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland). It was also decided the name of clan spelling should be ‘Gonmei’ during the assembly session.
First conference declared that December 7 will be observed as ‘Gonmei day’ every year and imposed a prohibition of marriage within the clan.
The noon session of ‘Renaissance of Gonmei Kaikhuang under Challenges and Prospects’ was highlighted and elaborated by social worker Mathiupuang Gonmei.
During the programme, a ‘Gonmei Day Afternoon Session’ led by Gonmei Chabon Phuam (AMN) was conducted. Entertainment, traditional games and activities, wrestling, drum beating, tug of war were also a part of the event.
Moreover, retired DFO Huri Gonmei gave a speech during the valedictory session.
Traditional fashion show, cultural dance, distribution of prizes and mementos were the main highlights.
A flag dehoisting of Gonmei Kaikhuang was led by chairman Conference committee Ajon Gonmei and the performance of the theme song led by DA Gonmei. The event was followed by an ‘extravaganza night’ which was led by several artistes.
The conference was attended by around 3,000 delegates from Gonmei Kaikhuang (AGK) Assam, Manipur and Nagaland state.
