Governor Najma Heptulla, CM Biren, ministers extend Good Friday wishes to people in Manipur

In the midst of cruelty around Him, and despite His agony, Jesus Christ on the cross said, “Father, forgive them, for they not know what they do,” stated Chief Minister N Biren in his Good Friday wish to the people.

On the occasion of Good Friday, Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and state ministers extended their greetings to the people of Manipur, especially the Christian brethren in the state.   

In her message, the governor stated that Good Friday reminds the people of the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ for all the sins of mankind. His message of love, forgiveness, truth and renunciation of violence, fanaticism or revenge should always be remembered by one and all, it stated. Lord Jesus always led his followers along the path of goodness, it further stated adding “on this holy and pious occasion, let us all come forward and uphold the noble ideas of peace, harmony and brotherhood espoused by Him for a better world, devoid of all evils. Let this sacred day be observed in its true spirit.”

It stated that Good Friday symbolises the supreme sacrifice made by Lord Jesus Christ for mankind. The crucifixion of the Lord and His resurrection on Easter Sunday are manifestations of the triumph of good over evil, it stated. His teachings emphasise a world free from inequality and injustice, it stated.

On the solemn occasion of Good Friday, and in the celebration of Easter Sunday, “Let us dedicate ourselves to the noble virtues of love, peace and forgiveness for strengthening the bond of brotherhood and unity amongst all communities of the state,” the message read.

Labour and Employment Minister Th Satyabratra Singh said Christ’s death denotes forgiveness for all of the sins of mankind.

“May this day of solemn prayer enlighten our people and bring peace and prosperity in the state,” Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh stated in his message.
