The All Manipur Women’s Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), president Thokchom ongbi Ramani Leima alleged the government of “never listens to the voice of women although it heaps praises on women all the time.”
Ramani was speaking to the media on Friday on the sidelines of the 43rd Suba Meira Paibi Houdokhiba Numit (43rd anniversary of Meira Paibi) at the Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen, Thangmeiband, Imphal.
The programme was organised by All Manipur Women’s Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj).
The Meira Paibi and ‘Nisa Bandh’ were formed by a group of women under Nupi Samaj to stop the menace of alcohol and drugs abuse and to protect the society from anti-social elements. Later, various groups were formed at different places of the state to strengthen the Meira Paibi, she added.
She further raised concern that many students are suffering the most as they are unable to get proper education due to the prevailing unrest. She appealed to the government to bring a solution in order to bring back normalcy and all the bureaucrats and leaders should cooperate with each other.
She also appealed to the government to prioritise on bringing back normalcy instead of praising women for mere words.
