Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday cautioned state government employees not to get involved in social issues and said that they should resign from their posts and join politics if they are going to raise such issues.
The chief minister was speaking at the Mass Sale and Distribution of National Flags to government employees as a part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground.
Government employees should discharge their duties for the welfare of the people, Biren said.
There would be no issues in the state if a government employee discharges his/her duty with dedication, honesty and sincerity, he added.
The chief minister said some government employees are inciting some communities to agitate against the government. Such employees should tender their resignation and choose either to join CSO or as an intending candidate in the election, he added.
There is no harm in students pursuing their studies in schools, colleges and universities and joining student bodies. However, the state Home department is going to issue an order to impose restrictions on those pretending to be students and joining student bodies in order to take advantage, said Biren.
He appealed to the people to hoist the National Flag in every household and government offices in connection with the celebration of the upcoming Independence Day from August 13 to 15.
During the programme, N Biren Singh distributed national flags to the representatives of all government departments for hoisting them at their respective office buildings. He also launched T-shirts for the bike rally which will be held on August, 14.
Cabinet ministers, MLAs, chief secretary, director general of Police, Senior Civil and police officials and employees of different government departments also attended the programme.
As a part of the programme, a stall for administering COVID-19 vaccine was also set up at the venue by the state Health department.
