The Manipur government has relaxed the curfew timings for all areas in Imphal East and Imphal West districts from 5 am to 6 pm on Sunday (August 20), citing considerable improvement in law and order in the districts.
Orders issued by the respective district magistrates on Saturday stated that curfew has been relaxed in both districts so as to facilitate the general public in purchasing essential items including medicines and food.
It further mentioned that movement of persons belonging to essential services such as health, electricity, PHED, petrol pumps, schools/colleges, municipality, power (MSPDCL/MSPCL), press and electronic media, functioning of courts and to and fro movement of flight passengers to the airport will be exempted from the imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation.
