In a sharp rebuttal, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Wednesday criticised Minister L Susindro (Yaima) for allegedly misinterpreting the Congress party’s manifesto regarding a memorandum submitted by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) to Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan in Imphal, MPCC Legal Department chairman S Samachoron (Sanou) accused the minister of lacking education and understanding, suggesting he enroll in school.

Sanou, speaking vehemently, referred to Susindro as “Ibungo Mantri,” implying a lack of understanding english words such as “Hon’ble Sir”.

Sanou was retaliating to the statement made by Minister Susindro which stated, “the memorandum of the ITLF submitted to Rahul Gandhi stating that ‘the political settlement stipulated in the Congress party’s manifesto must be fulfilled’ shows that the Congress party is going to disintegrate Manipur.”

He clarified that the Congress manifesto advocates for a reconciliation commission to achieve a political and administrative settlement satisfactory to all the people in the state.

Sanou lamented the minister’s alleged inability to comprehend the phrase “satisfactory to all the people,” emphasising that the ITLF’s memorandum seems more of giving in as they want settlement as per Congress manifesto.

Turning to BJP claims about the NRC and ILP benefits for Manipur, Sanou questioned the actual implementation and acceptance of these measures by the indigenous population.

He criticised the ILP as a superficial permit that fails to fulfill the wish of the people of Manipur.

Lastly, Sanou criticised the BJP government for its perceived inaction and urged it to govern effectively rather than merely observing events.
