Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs RK Ranjan has advised government officials to properly execute and materialise central sponsored projects instead of simply glamourising them on paper only.
He was speaking during a meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) on Tuesday at Panchayat Bhawan, Porompat.
Kshetrigao Constituency MLA, Sheikh Noorul Hassan; Lamlai Constituency MLA, Kh. Ibomcha; Imphal East DC, Khumanthem Diana; Imphal East Adhakshya, P Bimola among others attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister of State exhorted the State officials to put maximum efforts to fully implement the central sponsored schemes and projects. He expressed desire for the officials to fully commit towards achieving the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ranjan further told authorities concerned to provide smart class facilities in all the schools and instructed all concerned, including local MLAs to inspect whether mid-day meal is being provided to the beneficiary students with adequate nutritious value.
He also expressed concern whether fair price shops are being opened without following requisite guidelines and directed the officials to look into the matter.
Saying that the Prime Minister’s Office is well aware of the irregularities in scheme implementation in the state, Ranjan said that such is one of the factors for the hesitancy in providing funds from the Centre.
He went on to express disappointment that only two out of 10 MLAs in Imphal East District took part in the crucial meeting, which is being held every three months to chart out ways for pacing up development. He urged all the MLAs to be enthusiastic towards such meetings and attend the same in the future.
Meanwhile, MLA Noorul Hassan broached for incorporating brainstorming session and to convene the DISHA meeting for around 3 days in the future for better results.
Imphal East DC, Kh Diana assured that the District Administration will strive to translate into action the proposals put up in Tuesday’s meeting. She maintained that disciplinary actions will be taken against department officials who failed to attend Tuesday’s DISHA meet.
