The Private School Development Council (PSDC), Thoubal district has unanimously resolved to offer free education for the internally displaced students staying in relief centres within Thoubal district, announced PSDC, Thoubal general secretary Jotin Salam.
Announcing the decision during a press meet held at Fancier Higher Secondary School complex on Wednesday, Jotin said that PSDC Thoubal district resolved to organise a goodwill mission for peace and tranquillity committee for support to victim families who are residing in relief camps by every High and Higher Secondary School under PSDC.
He continued that PSDC will organise an awareness session in nearby relief camps, a study supervised camp during summer vacation, including victim students that are freely admissible in nearby institutions.
Stating that nobody can predict the future, he said PSDC urges the government of Manipur for an immediate amicable solution to the present crisis in the state and urges the concerned authorities to open educational institutes as soon as possible.
Further, Jotin appealed to all the 34 communities to speak for Manipur’s oneness and invited all to support the common inspiration of the state. "We will never compromise for a separate state/administration within the state," he added.
He continued that PSDC openly supports the Judicial Enquiry Commission ordered by Piyush Goyal, Additional Secy (Home), government of India and welcomes the peace committee initiated by Central government along with all the 34 community leaders of Manipur.
Stopping violence is the first priority and restoring peace the second priority, Jotin said, adding that the people from the hills need the valley people and vice-versa. A strong development partnership between the two is the best for the future of Manipur, he added.
Stating that tension is rising in the state as the Assam Rifles are not cooperating with the state force for restoring normalcy in the state, Jotin said they demand the immediate withdrawal of Assam Rifles from all vulnerable areas of the state.
The PSDC general secretary also called for lifting of the blockade permanently stating that prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed and are affecting the general public.
He also said that conflicts can always be discussed and concluded in talks and that the present conflict has led to great loss.
