Free anti-rabies vaccination for pets in Imphal East

Timely vaccination of domestic animals is a must as many unwanted eventualities may occur if any unvaccinated animal happens to bite a human, said MLA Th Arunkumar.

As many as 100 domestic dogs and cats from in and around Soibam Leikai, Imphal East received free Anti-Rabies vaccination during a ‘One-Day Free Vaccination Drive’ that was conducted at the Citizen Club in Imphal East.

The event was jointly organised by the Wangkhei MLA Youth Committee and Citizen’s Club in collaboration with the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry department.

"Timely vaccination of domestic animals is a must as many unwanted eventualities may occur if any unvaccinated animal happens to bite a human," MLA Th Arunkumar told mediapersons.

The MLA pointed out that many dogs become aggressive and start attacking humans, including their owners, due to untimely vaccination of domestic animals due to negligence.

The free vaccination programme is taken up for the safety of humans and care for those domestic animals, added the MLA.

Similar vaccination programmes will be taken up in other wards of the assembly constituency, he said, appraising the pet owners to get their pets vaccinated during such drives taken up for the welfare of all.
