Considering the unrest in the state, a committee named ‘Fraternity for Peace Initiative in Manipur (FPM)’ was formed under the initiative of the Archdiocese of Imphal on Monday (May 22).
A release by Fr Albert, general secretary of the newly formed committee, stated that the groaning for peace amid the social unrest in Manipur prompted the Archdiocese of Imphal to initiate a discussion with the leaders of various churches on Monday, May 22, 2023.
After detailed deliberation, it was felt that effort should be made to bring peace in Manipur, and to carry forward the peace initiative, a committee to be known as ‘Fraternity for Peace Initiative in Manipur’ was formed, Fr Albert stated.
Reverend Johny Shimray was chosen as the convenor, Reverend Losii as Co-Convenor, Fr Albert as general secretary, George Sakho and Reverend Timothy as members.
To assist in the commission, Archbishop Thomas Menamparambiland (Emeritus), Bishop Jeremiah were chosen as consultants.
