Four drug traffickers arrested in Manipur

Along with the seized articles, the arrested individuals were brought to the Police station, and a case was registered against them.

At least four drug traffickers were arrested by a team of police personnel led by the OC of North Sekmai Police Station while conducting frisking and checking duty at the IVR of Chandrakhong village foothill near Thumkhong Lairembi during curfew hours on Saturday.

During the frisking and checking operation, two individuals coming in a white Activa scooter without any registration number from Leirongthel side towards Chandrakhong side were detained. After verification, the two individuals identified themselves as one Kimboi Kipgen, 38, wife of Jangminthang Kipgen of Molen village, and one Mangpilun Kipgen, 19, son of Jangminthang Kipgen of Molen village, Kangpokpi district.

A thorough check of a blue and dark grey lady hanging bag which Kimboi Kipgen was carrying revealed six polythene packets labelled “Nestle Everyday Dairy Milk” which contained a total of 4995.1gms of suspected opium. The items were seized, and both Kimboi Kipgen and Mangpilun Kipgen were arrested following all necessary formalities.

Acting on Kimboi Kipgen’s disclosure, two more individuals identified as Limjapao Kipgen, 30, son of Seikhokai Kipgen of Bongba Khullen and Seiminlen Khongsai, 32, son of late Thonglam Khongsai of L Molnom Village, Kangpokpi district who were coming on a white Honda Activa without any registration number were also arrested at the spot and the vehicle they were travelling was also seized.

Along with the seized articles, the arrested individuals were brought to the Police station, and a case was registered against them under FIR no 7(5)2021 NSK-PS, u/s.18(b)/29/60(3) ND and PS Act.
