Four arrested in Kangpokpi bank loot case

Some miscreants have looted six computer sets along with few other electronic gadgets from Manipur State Cooperative Bank, Kangpokpi branch on July 11.

In a follow up of a case registered at Kangpokpi police station in relation to the looting of the Manipur State Cooperative Bank, Kangpokpi branch, four persons have been arrested on Saturday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Lamjalen Chongloi alias Lelen, 33, son of late Lunkhohao Chongloi of Chalwa Village, presently staying at Kangpokpi ward number 13, Kangpokpi District, Manipur; Lengoumang Kipgen alias Goumang, 30, son of late Sattinlal Kipgen of L Songtun Village, Kangpokpi District, Manipur; Lunminthang Khongsai, 33, son of Thanglen Khongsai, Loujol Village (PS-Saparmaina), Kangpokpi district; Seiminthang Khongsai, 34, Ngamlet Khongsai , Loujol Village (PS: Saparmaina), Kangpokpi district, Manipur.

District police stated that an SIT was formed led by additional superintendent of police (law and order), Tholu Rocky to investigate the case. The team received inputs from the bank that the culprits have stolen yet-to-be issued ATM cards from the bank.

The team tracked the ATM cards and observed that the culprits used the cards to withdraw cash from ATMs located in Senapati and Kangpokpi district. Based on the information the team collected the CCTV footage from the banks following due procedure.

During the police action Lamjalen was identified by the bank staff from the CCTV footage. A team of Kangpokpi police station, led by officer-in-charge Henminghthang Kipgen, arrested the individual. Upon questioning, the accused accepted the charge and informed the whereabouts of the other accomplices. From the disclosure of Lamjalen, the remaining three accused were also arrested on the same day.

The stolen properties of the bank were recovered from the possession of the four persons by the police team.
