Meanwhile, the election steering committee of Y Surchandra has refuted these allegations and termed them baseless and unfounded.
The allegations are propaganda spread by the henchmen of MLA Rameshwar, the committee stated.
In a press meet held at Kakching, Committee convenor Y Joykumar expressed Y Surchandra had been gaining public support and worked as their desired representative for two terms.
During his long tenure, there was not a single criminal case on him, he further said. Now, M Rameshwar himself has lodged an application and filed a case and is spreading lies to the public that Surchandra is involved in a criminal case, he added.
There is no reason that a defamation case should not be filed against Rameshwar for committing such activities, he added.
