LM Khaute, former DGP of Manipur, is richer than Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Y. Khemchand Singh as per the affidavits filed by the two candidates. Both the candidates filed their nomination papers on Thursday.
In his affidavit, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) candidate Khaute declared assets worth Rs 6.23 crore while Y Khemchand Singh declared assets worth over Rs 2.23 crore making the former richer by Rs 4 crore.
Manipur Speaker Y Khemchand Singh, who is contesting from Singjamei constituency with BJP ticket declared assets worth over Rs 2.23 crore, including cash in hands, banks, movable and immovable assets.
Singh’s total movable assets are Rs 1,71,32,611.32 as per the affidavits which include Rs 1,50,000 cash in hand and a total of Rs 72,95,724.32 in his bank account. He owns three cars registered under his name, a Tata Zest worth over Rs 4 lakh, one Mahindra Scorpio worth over 11 lakh and one Range Rover worth over Rs 70 lakh and jewelry.
The Manipur Speaker owned a non-agricultural land of 5220 sq. ft. which is an inherited property jointly owned with five members of his family worth Rs 52,65,283. He has a total liability of Rs 59,00,002 as loans from banks.
His total income shown in income-tax return for the last five financial years till March 31, 2021, is Rs 30,68,109.
On the other hand, JD-U candidate LM Khaute who is contesting from Churachandpur constituency has movable assets worth Rs 88,67,267, as per his affidavit. Of this, Rs 1,50,000 is cash in hand and he has Rs 79,66,631 in two different bank accounts. The former DGP owns only one car (Santro XP) is registered under his name, investments among others.
As immovable assets, Khaute has three residential buildings one at Nongpok Ingkhol; two at New Delhi (jointly owned with his spouse) which is worth Rs 5,34,68,000. Khaute has declared a bank loan of Rs 10,49,590 as a liability. Both the candidates have got no criminal records.
