Former Manipur chief minister and CLP leader O Ibobi on Sunday slammed the BJP-led government in Manipur stating that voting for the BJP would equate to endorsing the current state of affairs in Manipur.

He emphasised that under the BJP rule, the situation in Manipur has deteriorated, causing immense hardship and suffering for its residents.

The CLP leader was addressing a gathering at the Congress Bhawan during an interaction programme with the voters of Heingang AC.

He highlighted the failure of the government to effectively address the ongoing crisis, particularly concerning thousands still displaced and languishing in relief camps.

In this regard, Ibobi urged the public to resist any attempts by the BJP to manipulate votes through bribery.

Furthermore, he criticised the BJP for neglecting the needs of relief camp residents, attributing it to the absence of their own family members in such dire conditions.

He also called out the BJP government for shifting blame onto the previous Congress administration instead of taking responsibility for their governance failures.

Pointing to the irony of Chief Minister N Biren Singh and other ministers’ roles in decision-making processes during the previous administration, Ibobi accused the BJP of forcefully ruling the state akin to a dictatorship rather than rectifying their mistakes.

The programme also witnessed the presence of MPCC president K Meghachandra, CWC member Gaikhangam, INC candidate of inner Manipur Bimol Akoijam, and MPCC leader P Sharat, among others.
