CLP leader O Ibobi Singh, who is around 76 years old, fainted on Thursday shortly after delivering a speech. The faint lasted approximately 14.30 minutes.
Ibobi was seated on the dais alongside leaders of the INDIA bloc, attentively listening to the speech of MPCC president during a programme.
Immediate medical assistance was promptly provided on-site. Fortunately, his condition stabilised quickly, and he is now recuperating under bed rest at his official residence in Babupara.
Sources indicate that he is out of danger.
It may be recalled here that this is the second such occasion when veteran politician O Ibobi Singh fainted at a public gathering.
In 2007 November 30, he fainted at the inaugural function of the Bir Tikendrajit flyover while making speech as the then chief minister.
The then governor and several top officials were present during the function. He was rushed to the hospital, but soon declared out of danger.
