The designated officer of Food Safety Administration, Tekcham Brojen Khaba Meitei, said a legal notice is to be issued against Flower Bakery for operating without a license and FSSAI permit.
Brojen said that based on reliable information a designated officer of the Food Safety Administration of the State Health Department carried out a food safety drive at Flower Bakery located at Singjamei Nameirakpam Leikai on Monday morning. The designated food safety officer found illegal bakery products under different names without having a license and FSSAI, he said.
Brojen further said that a license was given to the Flower Bakery but it was cancelled on February 20, 2021, due to unsatisfactory food safety regulations. However, a registration number was given to Flower Bakery under particular regulation. But, the Flower Bakery with registration number producing the bakery products is illegal, he added.
The flower bakery has opened other bakeries in the name of Rose Flower, Rose, and NBS Bakery using a cancelled license number. The validity of registration number has been completed but continued producing bakery products, said Brojendro.
“Using invalid FSSAI and expired license number the Flower Bakery produces the products is against food safety regulation 2016”, said Brojendro.
He informed that while visiting manufacturing units, he found unhygienic conditions, displacing worker’s uniforms here and there.
He advises mass people to be aware of nutrition written in packages and expiry cum manufacturing dates of products.
“A show-cause notice will be issued and proper legal action will continue against Flower Bakery”, he said.
He added that frequent inspection and monitoring of manufacturing units are required in the state.
