A team of five Members of Parliament of CPI and CPI-M met Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Friday and discussed about the unprecedented ethnic violence taking place between the Meitei and Kuki communities since May 3.
The Left MPs include John Brittas, Bikashranjan Bhattacharya, Santosh Kumar, Subba Rayan and Binoy Vishwan.
According to a release from the Governor’s Secretariat, Raj Bhavan, the five MPs expressed their apprehension that unless the situation is brought under control in time, an uncontrollable communal flare up cannot be ruled out which will adversely affect the nation in general and the whole Northeastern states in particular.
All the MPs expressed that they will extend cooperation to all whatever they can do from their side.
The governor reiterated the appeal to all sections of the society, especially to womenfolk, to extend their fullest cooperation to the security personnel while discharging their responsibilities to restore peace in the state, the Raj Bhavan said.

MLA Karam Shyam also met the Governor and apprised her of the prevailing law and order situation arising out of the unprecedented ethnic clash between the two communities that broke out on May 3.
The Governor further requested all the elected representatives of the people of the state to make relentless efforts to bring the situation under control and bring peace through a peaceful and amicable dialogue so as to enable the government to resettle all the displaced people to their respective places, the Raj Bhavan said.
Rajni Datta, Sector Head, CRPF Wives’ Welfare Association, Manipur & Nagaland Sector, CRPF along with 25 Members of the Association and family members also met the Governor and discussed issues, inter alia, their welfare activities taken up by the Association.
