The Department of Fisheries, Manipur will be organising the first Emoinu Fish Festival 2023 on January 3 on the day of Emoinu Festival at Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal East.
“The objective of the festival is to facilitate fishes for religious offerings while promoting the fisheries sector for sustainable growth and development. The fish festival will also serve as a “One Stop Solution” to the citizens for Emoinu festival where fresh vegetables, fruits, fishes and many more will be available with the participation of Agriculture and allied departments of the government of Manipur and other private firms,” Director of Fisheries, Manipur, H Balkrishna Singh said in a release.
He also said that all interested fish farmers can participate in the said festival under the terms and conditions given by the department -the conditions include farmers selling their fish at the rate fixed by the department for the Emoinu festival, bearing transportation charges for the participating fish farmers by the department, providing stalls free of cost by the organising department and the farmers should bring their fish products from 9 am to 11am inside the festival premises.
He also called on all the interested fish farmers to apply or contact their respective District Fishery officers, chief executive officers, directorate of fisheries, Lamphelpat on or before December 29, during office hours.
