Financial aid provided to poor family from Kangpokpi

Sobita Maibam said that the common expression of ‘Ching Tam Amattani’ (Hill and valley are one) holds no meaning unless they are followed by actions.

A poverty stricken family from Kangpokpi assembly constituency, Ward No VIII was provided a financial aid of Rs 10,000 along with dry ration, as a part of celebrating the 16th foundation day of Wangjing Bazar Handloom & Handicraft Weavers Co-operative Society on Monday.    

The financial aid along with essential items such as rice, oil, salt, potato and other basic commodities were handed over to the family of one Nengnehat Chongloi wife of Paominlun Chongloi by the secretary of the society Sobita Maibam.

The occasion was attended by social worker Salam Birla, former announcer AIR Imphal Keke Wahengbam, social and cultural activist Rakesh Naorem, Khundrakpam Kamala, Salam (O) Bhajani, Phurailatpam Devikarini and Manikanta Mutum etc.  

Sobita Maibam said that the common expression of ‘Ching Tam Amattani’ (Hill and valley are one) holds no meaning unless they are followed by actions. By helping each other during difficult times, the programme was organised with the outlook that the people of hills and the valley must live together as one, she added.

She said that Nengnehat’s family has no land besides their house and they are daily wagers. "After we were informed of their plight, the aid was given with utmost sincerity to help them," she added. 

Tree saplings were also planted as a part of the occasion.
