Federation of Haomee (FoH) has observed May 3 as the second Indigenous Genocide Day, marking the conflict that shook Manipur, upended many innocent Meitei’s lives and the state’s security.

Federation of Haomee (FoH) has observed May 3 as the second Indigenous Genocide Day, marking the conflict that shook Manipur, upended many innocent Meitei’s lives and the state’s security.

The event was held at FoH’s office on Friday with federation president Sapamcha Jadumani chairing the programme, the federation stated in a release. FoH Kakching district also organised similar observance at Mantak village in presence of MK Mangte Kom and various other communities, it stated.

Allowing settlements of Chin Kuki Zo refugees in the state has had serious repercussions with them brewing war, ethnic cleansing from 1993-1997 in which many indigenous people of various communities have been allegedly killed, it stated. The genocide committed by them against the Meeteis on May 3, 2023 have killed and robbed the Meiteis of Chandel, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Moreh of their true land and properties.

The Kuki refugees, who do not have a single piece of land to call their own in any place of the World, have been carrying out ethnic cleansing, attempting to encroach lands of the native people, it accused. Above this the Centre’s divisive policies have allegedly fragmented the State’s territorial integrity which was long protected by our forefathers, FoH stated.

It called upon the indigenous people to be resilient in the fight against the illegal Chin Kuki Zo refugees to protect the territorial integrity and unity of the state. Attendees at the programmes also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the victims of the ongoing conflict, it added.
