External Affairs Minister Jaishankar visits tourist sites in Manipur

Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is in Imphal to attend the ongoing Manipur Sangai Festival 2022.

Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday visited Ima Market and War Cemetery in Imphal. 

The minister is in Imphal to attend the ongoing Manipur Sangai Festival 2022.

While interacting with the media, Jaishankar said the place is actually something one has to come and see to fully experience it. “It is a great example of Nari Shakti powering economic growth by women,” said the minister.

“The energy and entrepreneurship that we seek is what PM Modi is trying to make sure there is an opportunity for Nari Shakti in India. This is a historical example,” the minister said.

The External Affairs minister said the role of the Indian National Army is something that requires the fullest recognition. So, he will visit the INA at Moirang, he said.

He also visited the war cemetery ‘peace memorial’ located at Dewlahland.

He further visited Ithing village, Bishnupur district and discussed developmental issues with locals. He visited the INA Museum at Moirang and commended the museum for displaying the heroic efforts of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Jaishankar tweeted, “Assured that we are working to improve connectivity within the Northeast and to the wider world; and expand its access to global markets and workplace.” Jaishankar, who is on a visit to Manipur’s capital Imphal, attended an interactive programme held at Classic Grande in the city on Saturday evening.

He tweeted “Delighted to interact with the business community in Imphal today afternoon. The Modi Government is giving utmost priority to the development of the North East, including Manipur. It is visible in both resources and attention.” External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that India’s G20 presidency will be celebrated at various places across the country, including Manipur.

He said, “Our upcoming Presidency of the G20 will showcase Northeast to the world, with attendant tourism benefits.” The interactive programme attended by Jaishankar was hosted jointly by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). 

Notably, India will assume the presidency of the G20 for one year from December 1. India will host over 200 meetings with the objective of securing global economic growth and prosperity.
