The Assam Rifles on Tuesday stated that it has been extending medical care and relief materials to the people since violence hit the state on May 3.
Assam Rifles provided medical assistance to the local people when it conducted a mega medical camp for internally displaced civilians at the most affected places and relief camps at several places across Manipur, including Kangpokpi, Motbung, Saikul, Leitanpokpi and Dolaithabi, it mentioned.
An integrated medical team of seven doctors of Assam Rifles, including a paediatrician, anesthesiologist, gynecologist, medical specialist and three other doctors, extended free medical consultation, treatment and distributed free medicines for various ailments to almost 4,500 people including 2,500 women and 1,000 children, it further stated.
Assam Rifles healthcare professionals extended help and navigated numerous challenges, including threat to their own safety, provided emergency care, addressed trauma-related injuries, offered mental health support and implemented disease control measures, it mentioned.
Coordination between medical teams, law enforcement agencies and community organisations was undertaken to ensure effective medical assistance during the crises, it added.
