Expert team visits Churachandpur

An expert team will visit relief camps and share their expertise with officials on behalf of the Supreme Court of India.

A two-member expert team comprising health expert Dr Harish Shetty and Dr Padma Deosthali from the Supreme Court of India's appointed committee visited Churachandpur on Saturday to take stock of the situation.

They also visited the godown at Mini Secretariat Complex where they met additional DC Thangboi Gangte and nodal officer of relief, Solomon.

The team, which will be in Manipur till Tuesday, will visit relief camps and share their expertise with officials on behalf of the Supreme Court of India. The team will also facilitate local experts to gain access to the exact status of the needs and all other aspects at the camps.

Meanwhile, the Relief department of Churachandpur distributed essential commodities for 100 relief centers in the district which altogether are sheltering 15,062 inmates. The relief centers are run by 16 CSOs of the district. Dry ration, mosquito nets, blankets etc, and sports materials have been distributed since May 7.
