COCOMI spokesperson Khuraijam Athouba told the media at its office in Imphal West that they have come to learn that the Ministry of Home Affairs is trying to bargain with the 10 dead bodies of Kuki militants with women and Children held hostage.

He described it as a submissive attitude by the government and it undermined the ability of the government’s right attitude to handle the situation with the right approach.

Athouba said the government of India is not doing enough up to the expectations of the people.

He suggested that instead of trying to settle a negotiation with the Kuki insurgent group, the government should have conducted a cordon and search operations along with a severe military crackdown to find out the women and children held hostage.

Accusing Kuki sitting MLAs and their civil society organisations of openly supporting kidnappers who held the women and children hostage, Athouba asked for appropriate actions against them. He said it is the responsibility of the Central government to rescue six hostages safely and hand them over to their families.
