Disturbances in the movement of hospital staff, ambulances and other vehicles carrying hospital consumables by central forces and mobs has caused significant hindrance in the smooth functioning of the hospital, Raj Medicity chairman Haobijam Rajen said on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at the hospital's conference hall in Imphal, Haobijam Rajen stated the hospital's commitment to serving the public in need of medical attention.

Emphasising that every second is precious when it comes to saving, he appealed to the public and the relevant authorities to refrain from detaining or stopping staff and vehicles.

Rajen also announced that free treatment would be provided to all indigenous individuals who sustained injuries as a consequence of the ongoing unrest. He urged them to directly come to Raj Medicity, assuring the provision of the best service at no cost.

Talking about the current crisis, Rajen informed that a total of 40 victims have received and continue to receive free treatment at Raj Medicity since the crisis began.

Unfortunately, one of the patients succumbed to his injuries after undergoing three operations due to multiple organ failure, while two others were brought in dead, he added expressing regrets.

He stated that the hospital is dedicated to providing the best possible care to save precious lives, and if necessary, it is even prepared to bring in specialists from other states at its own expense.

Rajen also raised the issue of shortages of life-saving drugs and consumables, urging the government to ensure that at least one of the lifelines (national highways) in Manipur is functioning smoothly.

Furthermore, he appealed to all volunteer organisations to support the hospital in procuring the much-needed life-saving drugs, which are essential to address most of the traumatic cases.
