Humanist Manipur, a group of registered clubs in Manipur, on Wednesday demanded authorities concerned to evacuate all affected civilians situated at various sensitive areas in the state within the next 36 hours. It urged authorities to airlift the affected civilians if needed.
Speaking to media at Manipur Press Club, Humanist Manipur convenor Loitongbam Binodkumar stated that the group had submitted a memorandum to the governor and the chief minister, urging them to fulfil five demands.
He added that the memorandum would also be extended to the prime minister and the home minister of India.
He further highlighted the five points which include dispensing evacuation measures within the next 36 hours, systematic rehabilitation of displaced civilians, investigating how the peace rally in the hill districts turned violent, identifying and deporting illegal immigrants and restoring communal harmony.
Humanist Group is a conglomerate of 22 registered clubs of Manipur specifically formed to aid the victims of the recent violent ethnic clash, Binodkumar said, adding that the group would disband after normalcy is restored in the state.
Binodkumar further maintained the group would launch series of democratic peaceful protests if authorities failed to deliver the demands swiftly.
